Assistance League® of Newport-Mesa Presents Spring Benefit
"A Laff-ternoon with Larry Miller"
Newport Beach, Calif. - Actor, writer, comedian Larry Miller will entertain guests at Assistance
League of Newport Mesa's spring fundraising luncheon on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the
Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa.
Organizers hope to raise $100,000 to support the League's major programs including the Cheri
Harris Children's Dental Health Center, Operation School Bell®, Kids on the Block® and
Community Outreach Program serving the needs of children and families in the Newport-Mesa
communities.
Event chairperson Carolyn Matthews said, "We are just delighted to feature the intelligent yet hilarious Larry Miller who we hope will attract a wide audience to this year's fundraiser."
Larry Miller is one of Hollywood's most recognizable faces appearing in over 50 films and numerous television shows. Miller's career began with the memorable role as department store manager in Pretty Woman and he is known for recurring roles on Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives and Seinfeld. He is a contributing humorist to The Weekly Standard and published his first book, Spoiled Rotten America: Outrages of Contemporary Life last year. Miller is a regular on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and Real time with Bill Maher where he offers his witty perspective on a variety of topics. In addition to his presentation at the event, Miller be on hand to speak with attendees and sign copies of his latest book.
Tickets to the event are $125.00 per person and advanced sales are highly encouraged. A social
hour and the silent auction begins at 10:30 a.m. and the luncheon and entertainment begins at
12:00 p.m. The Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa is located at 900 Newport Center Drive in
Newport Beach.
Now in its 67th year of service, Assistance League of Newport-Mesa is a self-funded, volunteer,
nonprofit organization that benefits children and families through community philanthropic projects. Founded in 1940, the organization supports their programs through proceeds from a
year-round Thrift Shop, Treasures on Consignment Store, fundraising events and grants.
